How was richard the lionhearted related to the christians.

He fought for the Christians in the crusades. Also he fought so hard that he returned the true cross to the true owner, the Christians in the end of the crusades. He fought to return the holy land to the Christians. In the end of the crusades he made a deal with Saladin the at said the Christians were allowed back into Jerusalem. Also a small part of the holy land was given back to the Christians and the Turks and the Christians lived in peace and harmony.

Richard and Saladin

Richard I and Saladin  were enemies from the get go they couldn't agree who should have control over the holy land and couldn't stop fighting over it. In the beginning of the crusades they were gracious to each other  then  Richard I took all of the Turkish soldiers and surrendered people of Acre and beheaded them. Saladin was furious and from then on Saladin took no mercy on any captured enemy and killed the prisoner on the spot. Finally nearing the end of the third crusade Richard wore down Saladin and forced him to make a truce. even though they never met, they were the biggest parts of the third crusades.
