He was born in oxford in 1157. He became the king of England in 1189 , also he was the duke of Aquitaine .Also he ruled as the duke of Gascony. After besieging the city of Acre he headed for France to began preparing a war against his partner and enemy for life, Phillip. the y fought over land and if Richard died without an heir to the throne the land would go to Phillip. Phillip had tricked William of fitzralph into saying that richard had agreed to give his lands to phillip.
I think it was really smart of Phillip to trick William of fitzralph into saying that Richard had agreed to give his lands to Phillip because when Richard died, then Phillip would recieve all of his land.
