How was richard the lionhearted related to the christians.

He fought for the Christians in the crusades. Also he fought so hard that he returned the true cross to the true owner, the Christians in the end of the crusades. He fought to return the holy land to the Christians. In the end of the crusades he made a deal with Saladin the at said the Christians were allowed back into Jerusalem. Also a small part of the holy land was given back to the Christians and the Turks and the Christians lived in peace and harmony.

Richard and Saladin

Richard I and Saladin  were enemies from the get go they couldn't agree who should have control over the holy land and couldn't stop fighting over it. In the beginning of the crusades they were gracious to each other  then  Richard I took all of the Turkish soldiers and surrendered people of Acre and beheaded them. Saladin was furious and from then on Saladin took no mercy on any captured enemy and killed the prisoner on the spot. Finally nearing the end of the third crusade Richard wore down Saladin and forced him to make a truce. even though they never met, they were the biggest parts of the third crusades.

Richard the lionheated involvement in the crusades

He was the co-commander of the third crusade.he was given the position of commander when his partner and enemy Phillip left him for France. He besieged the city of acre for two years. he made Saladin pay him a huge ransom and since Saladin couldn't come up wit the money Richard brought out 2,700 surrendered Turkish soldiers and people of Acre and beheaded them all. Their are two accounts of this event, one is a christian historian saying that the good king (Richard) had brought out all of the terrible Muslims and killed them. Their is another account from a Muslim saying that the cold blooded king murdered all of the Muslim people. There for the  Muslims were never gracious with the English any more for the rest of the crusades and Saladin would from there on would immediately kill any enemy prisoners. after killing all of the people at acre Richard marched south and attacked the city of Arsuf.
